LONDON - Runners from international elites through to school-age children will have another opportunity to better their Mile best in 2014 with a new event to take place in the capital.

Held for the first time in the year which marks 60 years since Sir Roger Bannister ran the world’s first sub-4 minute Mile, the City of London Mile is to comprise five events: the Family Mile, Youth Mile, Corporate Mile, International Mile and the City of London Mile which is open to everyone.

Organised by Run-Fast Ltd, better known as a global sports management company, the event, to be held on Sunday, June 22, will cover a one Mile course following a historic route taking in Mansion House, the Bank of England, Guildhall and St. Mary-le-Bow Church, as well as part of the London Olympic marathon course.

Among supporters of the event, which starts and finishes next to St. Paul’s Cathedral in the heart of London’s Square Mile, is 2011 world silver medalist Hannah England (pictured above).
