Wheating Returns to Vermont for Some R&R

Back in Vermont for a brief vacation, two-time Olympian and Vermont native Andrew Wheating is unwinding at his parents’ lake house in Chittenden County.

There’s no dishwasher or internet access. Just seclusion — a perfect setting for Wheating to enjoy the fruits of the state he’ll always call home.

“The lake house is in the middle of nowhere — it’s away from everything,” Wheating said Thursday morning. “It’s really refreshing and completely rejuvenating my body.”

A perfect remedy for Wheating’s mind and body.

The 24-year-old made his second Olympics appearances earlier this month, reaching the semifinal round of the 1500 meters in London. Wheating spent much of the past calendar year working back from a hamstring injury, only to suffer a bout of plantar fasciitis leading up to the Olympics.
