For record setters, the Mile outpaces all other competitors
By Frank Fellone, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
Jose Castelano was flying along, looking cool in shades and an Oregon shirt, spectators cheering for him and the rest of the elite runners on the course near the soccer fields at Burns Park...
So Katie, if you asked me again, "What does being at the Go! Mile mean to you?” I’d say, “This is where it all starts.”

Spring and early summer are favorite times for me to be in Burns Park, the large municipal park in North Little Rock which hosts events such as Duathlons, Mountain Bike Races, Dragon Boat Races, Adventure Races, Cyclocross and Criteriums and recent host to the Arkansas Trails Day celebration. The park has been a major player in outdoor recreation in Central Arkansas for many years, once a part of Camp Pike, a military training base during World War I and then becoming part of Camp Robinson just before World War II, the property was sold as surplus land in the late 40s..
Cortney Allison is at home in the marathon, so the GO! Mile is a definite challenge for this effervescent long distance runner.

Cortney was too close for comfort in the Boston bombing last year, just a few minutes separated them. Now she’s back running road races, but has also been helping to coach the Mount St. Mary’s track team this year.

Presented by HOKA ONE ONE, the interview series speaks with British and University of Arkansas Mile standout, Gary Taylor, on the Little Rock, AR running community and Saturday's Go! Mile, host of the 2014 RRCA 1 Mile Championship.
By Bring Back the Mile
Gary Taylor is no stranger to competing at the highest level, so it is no surprise that in just over a short period of time he has helped develop an incredible running community in Little Rock, AR. A standout British Miler (3:57.15) who was also an NCAA All-American at the University of Arkansas, opened up the Go! Running retail store in 2010 in partnership with fellow Razorback and Irish Mile star Frank O'Mara (3:51.06). Approached by the local chapter of the RRCA in 2011 to put on a Mile, Taylor and O'Mara set out to create an event that would highlight elite Milers while welcome first-time runners and families alike. Entering its third year, the Go! Mile, a Bring Back the Mile Featured Event, has quickly become a community favorite, and added for 2014 the Windstream Elite Miles, host of the RRCA 1 Mile Championship.

Wednesday is National Running Day, and to celebrate, running enthusiasts from all over central Arkansas will gather at Murray Park at 6 a.m. and go running.
Perhaps the most unusual event will come in 10 days. Erin and Gary Taylor have put together the Go! Mile event.

Saturday morning we witnessed many people in various stages of the thousand mile journey, including some who were taking that first step. The Go! Mile, in it’s third year, is an event for everyone. We saw kids, barely beyond their first steps in life to folks in their seventh or eighth decade of running. There were people who strolled through the mile long course and elite runners pushing record times.
