Bolas, Kampf Claim Crowns at Minnesota Mile

Duo also win inaugural Bring Back the Mile Grand Prix Tour 2014 titles

DULUTH, Minn. – Jack Bolas won Sunday’s 8th Grandma’s Minnesota Mile road race in downtown Duluth. Bolas, 26, of Chapel Hill, N.C., finished in 4 minutes, 2.3 seconds and claimed the first-place prize of $3000, while Jon Peterson, of Minneapolis, placed second in 4:04.0.

In the women's race, Heather Kampf, 27, of Minneapolis, claimed her second Minnesota Mile title and $3000 with a winning time of 4:29.9. Kampf, known as the Queen of the Road Mile, also won in 2012. Sara Vaughn of Boulder, Colo. was runner-up in 4:34.0.

Both Bolas and Kampf also claimed the top spots in the inaugural Bring Back the Mile Grand Prix Tour 2014 standings with 24 and 36 points, respectively, and the pair took home an additional $2000. The Minnesota Mile was the last of six stops on the Tour circuit.

A total of 453 people registered for the Grandma’s Minnesota Mile event which featured four separate divisions: Minnesota Mile (Elite), Duluth Mile (Semi-Elite), All City Mile (Recreational) and the Verizon Kids Mile.
