Waskom finished runner-up in the 2023 USA 1500m Championship race in July, and six days later, broke his USA 1500m personal record of 3:35.32 in Lignano, Italy, clocking 3:34.64 for the win and qualifying for the World Championships in Budapest.

In 2022, Waskom won the NCAA 1500m title (runner-up in 2023 to teammate Nathan Green) and is part of a deep Mile contingent at the University of Washington, coached by Andy Powell.

The Washington native was a 3-time state champion (cross country, 2018, and 3200 meters, 2018-19).
