Staples’ Wynne Captures National Mile Title

NEW YORK -- As he crossed the finish line Sunday afternoon at The Armory in first place, Staples’ Henry Wynne gave his signature fist pump, but this time it maybe meant a little bit more.

Running at the New Balance Indoor Track National Championships, Wynne escaped a tight pack of runner’s midway through and used a big kick at the end to win the boys’ one Mile race in a time of four minutes and 8.15 seconds. The victory added to Wynne’s highly-decorated high school running career, as he finished this past cross country and indoor track and field season undefeated in individual events.
