Centrowitz Wins Over Manzano, Kampf Repeats at Grand Blue Mile
Matthew Centrowitz and Heather Kampf picked up $5000 for their road Mile wins, event record 5,000 participants at 6th edition event.

DES MOINES, Iowa - (April 21, 2015) - The Drake Relays kicked off in grand style with the Grand Blue Mile Tuesday night in Des Moines. Matthew Centrowitz outkicked fellow 2012 U.S. Olympian Leo Manzano for the win, clocking 4:03.29, while Heather Kampf repeated as champ in 4:35.49 over Nicole Sifuentes. Centrowitz and Kampf picked up $5000 for their road Mile wins.
Kampf and Centrowitz held off tough fields and windy conditions to win the 6th edition sponsored by Wellmark and Nationwide on the streets of downtown Des Moines.
Kampf, the event’s defending champion, retained her crown with a time of 4:35.75 holding off 2012 Canadian Olympian Sifuentes. Kampf’s win netted her $5000 as $30,000 in prize money was awarded to the top men’s and women’s finishers.
