Downtown Yakima Mile

Yakima, WA

The Downtown Yakima Mile presented by Home2 Suites by Hilton - Yakima Airport is a road Mile race that takes over a beautiful 14-block gradual, point-to-point, downhill stretch of Yakima Avenue to runners of all ages and abilities who “want to run their fastest Mile." The race will begin on Yakima Avenue just east of 16th Avenue and will end in the shadow of the Larson Building, downtown Yakima’s historic Art Deco building.

There will be 10 heats for the family, youth, military-first responders-healthcare, dog-human, Open, Masters and elite athletes plus a kids race to the finish line with elite athletes to end the day.

The second edition offers a guaranteed $26,500 overall prize purse with $23,500 Elite prize money going 6-deep per gender ($5000, $3000, $1500, $1000, $750 and $500). In addition, if the race winner beats the fastest Mile on Washington soil, a $5000 bonus per gender will be awarded and sub-3:48 (men) or sub-4:20 (women) receive a $5000 time bonus (winner).

Thanks to race sponsor Home2 Suites, the event is free for all runners under 18. Seniors can register for half price. General registration is $25. All participants receive a race-themed bandana designed by a local artist. All event proceeds will directly support YWCA programs to end domestic violence
