The Manzano Mile presented by Dole returns as part of the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon weekend and is hosted by event namesake Leo Manzano, two-time U.S. Olympian & 2012 London Olympics 1500m silver medalist.
The 2020 Manzano Mile prize purse totaled $2600 for the top three male and female finishers in the Open Division as well the top male and female finishers in the Masters (40-49) and Grand Masters (50-plus) Division. In the Open Division, each champion earned $500, runner-up takes home $300, and third place pocketed $200. In the Masters and Grand Masters Division, first place male and female earned $150 each.
Elites can review standards, details and complete the elite athlete application on the event website.
In addition, the top three finishers will receive awards based on the following male and female age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, Masters (40-49) and Grand Masters (50-plus). There will be six heats or waves, running approximately every 15 minutes. The Manzano Mile will conclude with the Future Milers of America Kids Run and an untimed Mile that’s perfect for the entire family to complete together.
The 4th annual Manzano Mile will begin at 11:00am and take place entirely on Riverside Drive next to the Austin Marathon Health & Fitness Expo at Palmer Events Center. Participants will receive a bib, a one-of-a-kind Manzano Mile race shirt and post-race drinks & snacks. Packet pick up will take place on-site and begin Saturday morning at 9:00am. Participants can register for the Manzano Mile on the Austin Marathon website.
The Manzano Mile is also a BBTM Featured Event, showcasing America's best Mile races throughout the year.
