209 participate in Newark’s Main Street Mile

The annual run helps raise money for the Newark Police Department's K-9 unit.

Undeterred by windy and wet conditions, 209 people completed the Main Street Mile on Saturday.

The race, now in its ninth year, raises money for the Newark Police Department’s K-9 unit.

Organizer Nic DeCaire said this year’s proceeds have not yet been calculated. However, the race and other related events have raised more than $70,000 since 2006.
