Keen ultra distance runner Mark Horsman, a native of Aberporth, is always one for a challenge. He recently took part in the Welsh Mile Road Race Championships in Cardiff and was awarded a silver medal for his efforts, clocking 5 minutes, 10 seconds. The event was held the day before the Cardiff Half Marathon, which Mark also completed as part of his training for the Snowdonia Marathon.
"The Mile race was held on a two loop circuit at Cardiff’s Civic Centre and I was signed up for the Masters race. I managed to pace the race very well and beat my running club team mate Stuart by out sprinting him to the line to take second place in the V35 category (35-39 years old). I was very surprised to have done so well given it was the shortest race I had ever done and even more surprised when I was asked to stand on a podium and presented a Welsh Athletics silver medal by former marathon world record holder and current British record holder Steve Jones!" explained a delighted Mark who now lives in Cardiff and works in Llandysul.
