More than 1,300 students run Wellsville Mile

Runners from the Mountain Crest Cross Country team helped pace the elementary students and encourage them to finish strongly.

Thousands of parents, grandparents, and siblings crowded around the streets of Wellsville to witness over 1300 fourth and fifth grade students from nine elementary schools run the Wellsville Mile on Tuesday. The fastest overall time of the day belongs to Millville 4th grader Grady Workman who finished the Mile in 6 minutes, 3.8 seconds. The fastest time among girls was 5th grader Amelia Zilles, also from Millville Elementary, with 6:25.7.

Overall, 12 races took place divided up by three different heats for 4th grade girls, 4th grade boys, 5th grade girls and then 5th grade boys. Runners from the Mountain Crest Cross Country team helped pace the elementary students and encourage them to finish strongly.

The students who participated in the race were from Wellsville, Mountainside, Lincoln, Canyon, Heritage, Nibley, Millville, Providence and River Heights elementary schools.
