Olympic men’s 1500 meters: Matthew Centrowitz advances, Andrew Wheating eliminated

Former University of Oregon runners Matthew Centrowitz and Andrew Wheating met different fates on Sunday in the men's 1500 meter semifinals at the London Olympics.

Centrowitz, who trains with Alberto Salazar's Nike Oregon Project, summoned a surge on the final lap and finished his heat in 3 minutes, 34.90 seconds to grab the fifth and final automatic qualifying spot for Tuesday's final.
