By Bring Back the Mile

The Super Milers documentary from Great Britain’s Channel 4 is entertaining and simply riveting. The hour-plus video covers the eleven world record holders of the Mile from 1954 to 1984: Roger Bannister (GBR), John Landy (AUS), Derek Ibbotson (GBR), Herb Elliott (AUS), Peter Snell (NZL), Michel Jazy (FRA), Jim Ryun (USA), Filbert Bayi (TAN), John Walker (NZL), Sebastian Coe (GBR) and Steve Ovett (GBR). This documentary contains wonderful commentary and stories from the athletes as well as inspiring race and training footage.

The compelling documentary starts with Sir Roger Bannister and the first sub-4 minute Mile and ends with Bannister and the WR-holder at the time Lord Coe chatting about the Mile, Bannister’s preparation and training. Thumbs up, way up!
