U.S. female Milers have high hopes at Pre Classic 2015

Simpson, Rowbury, Coburn and Moser are all contenders in 1500 meters

Traditionally, American women haven’t fared well at the Prefontaine Classic 1500 meter race.

This year could be a different story.

American’s Jenny Simpson, Shannon Rowbury, Emma Coburn and Treniere Moser are all entered in the 41st Pre Classic, which will take place May 29-30 at storied Hayward Field in Eugene

Simpson is the only American to be ranked  #1 in the world by Track & Field News since Mary Slaney achieved that distinction twice in the 1980s.

The IAAF Diamond Trophy winner last year, Simpson matched another Slaney feat in 2011, winning the World Championships 1500 gold medal.
