Uceny aims for return to Olympics

“It’s the only thing I’m thinking about. Making the team is the only thing that matters.”

The last time the world got a good look at Morgan Uceny, she was lying flat on the ground.

The pride of Plymouth fell to the track just as she was moving into position to win a gold medal in the women’s 1500 meter run at the London Olympics.

Cameras broadcast her anguish around the globe.

A lot of things have happened since that difficult day in August 2012. A lot of water under the bridge.

Uceny is still out there, still training, still racing, still focused on the 1500. And while she doesn’t command the same attention she used to, her athletic career is far from over.

In fact, as another Olympic Games approaches, Uceny is determined to earn another spot on Team USA.

And this time, finish the job when she gets to Rio de Janeiro.
