Mary Cain sets U.S. high school 1500 mark at world junior meet
Bronxville runner earns sixth place with a finish of 4:11.01

Bronxville track star Mary Cain continued to shine Sunday at the International Association of Athletics Federations World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain, setting another United States record in the process.
Cain finished sixth in the final of the 1500-meter race, clocking a personal record time of 4 minutes, 11.01 seconds, surpassing Jordan Hasay’s American high school record of 4:14.50.
“Setting a new U.S. record by such a significant margin really seems like a fitting conclusion to an exciting and eventful year,” Mary’s father, Charlie Cain, said in an email.
