SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – (September 12, 2013) – The inaugural Bring Back the Mile Tour 2013, showcasing 14 events nationwide, produced exciting Mile racing throughout the year including the Tour finale at the Minnesota Mile on Sunday, September 8 where Americans Ben Blankenship and Gabriele Anderson shattered course records, clocking 3 minutes, 52.7 seconds and 4:21.3, respectively, and running the fastest Miles ever in Minnesota. Bring Back the Mile (BBTM), launched in January 2012, is a national campaign to elevate and celebrate the iconic distance.

Kampf sets women's course record in 4:30.9; 10th stop on the Bring Back the Mile Tour; event honors legacy of Ryan Shay
CHARLEVOIX, Mich. - The 6th Ryan Shay Mile took place this morning in Charlevoix, Michigan under cloudy skies and cool temperatures. The 10th stop on the 14-event inaugural Bring Back the Mile Tour, the Open athletes were vying for $4000 ($1000, $500 and $250 plus $250 for the leader at the ½ mile) in prize money provided by Bergmann Marine.
2012 winners, Daniel Clark and Heather Kampf, successfully defended their titles with Clark crossing the line in a new personal record of 3 minutes 56.8 seconds and Kampf breaking her own course record from last year with a time of 4:30.9.

Top Open fields expected at 10th stop on the inaugural Bring Back the Mile Tour; event honors legacy of Ryan Shay
CHARLEVOIX, Mich. - The 6th Ryan Shay Mile will take place in Charlevoix on Saturday, July 27 at 10:30am. Once again the spectators should be treated to a thrilling race to the finish with a deep men’s field and a strong women’s field. Daniel Clark and Heather Kampf will be returning to defend their titles, and with the current fields assembled, both course records, men’s 3:55.9 (Jeff See, 2010) and women’s 4:31.83 (Heather Kampf, 2012), could be broken on the fast downhill, point-to-point course.
The 2013 race is also the 10th stop on the 14-event inaugural Bring Back the Mile Tour, celebrating America’s distance from sea to shining sea.

Bring Back the Mile (BBTM), launched in January 2012, is a national campaign to elevate and celebrate the iconic distance.
“To-date, the Bring Back the Mile Tour has generated some thrilling racing and also produced numerous Mile records in several categories,” said BBTM Founder Ryan Lamppa. “Without a doubt, the Tour events have engaged and entertained runners of all ages and abilities, the media, fans and the general public, and we look forward to the second half of the BBTM Tour 2013 and more Mile excitement.”
