Peter Callahan wins FloTrack Throwdown Mile; Canadian Fiona Benson runs world leading 4:25.79

The comparatively unknown Peter Callahan upset a good field in the men's Mile, kicking to victory in the final 200, clocking 3:58.43. Canadian Fiona Benson beats women's field by nearly five seconds in 4:25.79

There were thumbs up all around Saturday at Duniway Park for the first Flotrack Throwdown track & field meet.

An estimated 2,500 fans showed up, most happily milling in and around a beer garden in the middle of the infield, although a few sat down on grassy banks above the track.

There were no stands, and nobody seemed to miss the formal seating.
