SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – (September 12, 2013) – The inaugural Bring Back the Mile Tour 2013, showcasing 14 events nationwide, produced exciting Mile racing throughout the year including the Tour finale at the Minnesota Mile on Sunday, September 8 where Americans Ben Blankenship and Gabriele Anderson shattered course records, clocking 3 minutes, 52.7 seconds and 4:21.3, respectively, and running the fastest Miles ever in Minnesota. At 41-years-old and drawing nearly 11,000 runners, the New Balance Falmouth Road Race is one of the marquee events on the Bay State running calendar.
The day before the main event, the races at Falmouth High’s James Kalperis Track have become just as special.
Danvers’ Catalina Dominick was one of 10 girls from around Massachusetts invited to participate in the Tommy Cochary High School Mile, held Saturday, August 10. The Mile included a boys and girls field, and the day also featured an elite Falmouth Mile and a competition for wheelchair athletes.

FALMOUTH, Mass. -- The 2013 Falmouth Mile proved exciting once again here at Falmouth High School on Cape Cod. Americans Ben Blankenship (3:56.27) and Katie Mackey (4:41.39) earned $2000 a piece with their wins under the lights.

Blankenship sure is happy he chose to run the Falmouth Mile here on Saturday night. Coming away with the victory in 3 minutes, 56.27 seconds, the 23-year-old was elated and a bit surprised.

Track star set for Tommy Cochary High School Mile at Falmouth on Saturday evening

HINGHAM, Mass. — Hingham’s Julie McConville will be one of twenty elite student athletes from around Massachusetts competing in the Tommy Cochary High School Mile on Saturday, August 10 at 7:00pm at the Falmouth High School track.
The high school Mile was renamed last year in honor of Tommy Cochary, a local Falmouth runner who was killed in a drunk driving accident in 1990.

FALMOUTH, Mass. – This year’s elite Falmouth Mile promises to be an exciting event on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 7:00pm at the Falmouth High School track. There will be three races starting with the Tommy Cochary High School Mile that is stacked with stellar high school athletes, followed by the wheelchair and elite races. The Falmouth Mile is the 12th stop on the nationwide inaugural Bring Back the Mile Tour 2013.
In the men’s field, it will be a fierce competition with 2012 race champion, David Torrence, who finished with a time of 3 minutes, 55.79 seconds, taking on 2011 champion and course record holder Jordan McNamara who clocked 3:54.89 at Falmouth. These two have met recently at the Emsley Carr Mile where McNamara edged Torrence, 3:52.42 to 3:52.74. The pair will be joined by rising star Garrett Heath, who finished third last year in his Falmouth debut and is coming off his personal record of 3:53.15 at the Emsley Carr Mile. Other returning runners include Jack Bolas, Matthew Elliott, Will Leer and Craig Miller, who placed 4th at Falmouth last year. Making his Falmouth Mile debut this year is recent Arkansas grad Duncan Phillips.

Martinez and Anderson run #1 and #2 fastest women’s Mile times of the year

Falmouth Mile, a track precursor to the larger, older 7-mile road race, proved to be one of the deepest ever run on American soil, with the top 10 men dipping under the magical 4-minute mark.
It would have been hard to equal that performance again, and indeed, swirling, humid winds threw an additional impediment into the mix. Nonetheless, this year’s edition on Saturday evening came close, with David Torrence (right) leading five other men under 4, turning in a creditable 3:55.79 victory.

FALMOUTH, Mass. – (August 8, 2012) – Falmouth Road Race organizers expect an electric evening of six Mile events on Saturday, August 11 at the Falmouth High School track. The top three men from 2011’s blazing fast event, defending champion Jordan McNamara, Jeff See and AJ Acosta return to battle with nine other competitors including David Torrence and 2012 USA Mile road champion Craig Miller. For the women, Sarah Bowman, Katie Mackey and Gabriele Anderson arrive in Falmouth after placing in the top 10 in the 1500 meters at the Olympic Trials. Former Mile world record holder, Craig Blanchette, leads the men’s wheelchair field, while the women’s wheelchair field will be contested by five women who will compete the next day as well. The Cochary High School Mile will be stacked with the best from Massachusetts schools. The Mile events start at 6:00pm with the high school girls taking to the track first.
