The Medtronic TC 1 Mile is one of the largest road Mile events in the country! Join thousands of runners and race on a new U-shaped USATF-certified course in downtown Minneapolis near beautiful Gold Medal Park and alongside the Mississippi River, and then stay to cheer on professional runners battle it out for Mile glory and a $25,000 prize purse. The 11th Medtronic TC Mile is also the second stop on the Bring Back the Mile Grand Prix Tour 2016.
From 2009-12 & 2015, the event hosted the USATF 1 Mile Road Championships and will again host the national road title tilt in 2016.

The Fu Manchu mustache has been around for several years now, long enough to become Will Leer’s signature look. The prodigious beard is a new addition to the Minnetonka native’s face, distinguishing him even further from his elite running brethren — and giving him a slight resemblance to Father Time, the guy he is currently outpacing.
Bring Back the Mile's 2014 interview series, presented by HOKA ONE ONE, kicks off with Team USA Minnesota middle distance ace Gabriele Grunewald. Known as 'Gabe', she earned her first national title and U.S. team berth last February at the USA Indoor Championships in the 3000m. She set a smoking personal Mile best in 2013 winning the Minnesota Mile in 4:21.3, clocking the fastest Mile ever run by a woman in Minnesota. Grunewald was the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships runner-up at 1500 meters, earning All-American status for the University of Minnesota as a Golden Gopher.
Minutes after Olympic silver medalist Nick Willis broke David Torrence’s Medtronic TC 1 Mile course record last year, Torrence formally declared that he would take his record back in 2014. The friendly call-out – Torrence congratulated Willis as well, it should be noted – departed from distance running’s typically non-confrontational code.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – (May 9, 2013) – Olympic silver medalist Nick Willis extended his season winning streak to eight races with a record-breaking victory at the Medtronic TC 1 Mile on Thursday evening in Minneapolis. The New Zealand native clocked 3 minutes, 56.1 seconds to break three-time Medtronic TC 1 Mile champion David Torrence’s 2011 record of 3:58.4.
In the women’s professional race, Sarah Brown of Knoxville, TN, the 2010 race runner-up, edged Canadian Olympian Nicole Sifuentes at the tape in 4:33.3, with Sifuentes stopped at 4:33.4. Defending champion Heather Kampf of Minneapolis was third (4:34.1).
